Commodity Supplemental Food Program

COVID-19 Update

In an effort to limit the number of people gathered at the Aging Services office at one time, commodity pickups will be by APPOINTMENT ONLY during regular distribution days until further notice. Please call 433-3701 to choose the most convenient time to pick up your commodities.

Commodity Program Overview

The cost of everything is rising and groceries are no exception. With the increase in prices, some Seniors are left wondering how they can stretch their budget while still getting the nutrition they need to continue living a healthy and active life. The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) may be able to help.

The CSFP is a Federally funded program, which works to improve the health of the elderly by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA commodity foods. The Program does not provide a complete diet but does provide you with many of your pantry staples such as grains, juice, canned meat, poultry or fish, and fruits and vegetables.

Big Changes!

In an effort to make the CSFP program even more useful to you the RCCOA has recently redesigned the way it distributes items. You will no longer receive a prepackaged bundle; instead, you can "shop" for the items that will be the most beneficial to you! The minimum amount of items from each category has been eliminated so if you won't use it, you no longer have to take it. Also, you can choose which items you want from each category (up to the maximum) to ensure your package fulfills its mission; to supplement your cupboard.

We hope this flexibility gives you a more enjoyable experience while helping the CSFP Program fulfill its mission.
