Julie has been with Richland County Health since January 2000 and has been involved with various programs the the years.

As the Communicable Disease Nurse, she is to follow and distribute the state DPHHS list of reportable communicable diseases along with education packets to local health care providers on a yearly basis. Work behind the scene to track and reduce the spread of diseases. Work with local hospital lab & providers in following up on reportable disease cases or animal exposures to ensure adequate treatment, education and prevention is made available; also assisting with implementing control measures for our community. Maintain active surveillance with key partners regarding current illnesses or diseases. Work with local sanitarian to investigate food or water borne illnesses.  Develop and or distribute the Health Alert Messages from the MT DPHHS about various health issues or concerns to those in our county that will benefit most from the information.

Julie has been the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Coordinator since about 2002.  She works to complete the required PHEP deliverables (guidelines & reports) that satisfy the grant from MT DPPHS through by Homeland Security.  Develop policies and procedures for the response plan/efforts of public health disasters in the county.  Work with the various county emergency response partners (hospital, DES, Fire, Law, Ambulance, and Volunteer Services & RED Cross) to coordinate emergency plans in regards to public health issues or disasters as indicated. Plan, participate in, assist with, and or evaluate drills or exercises in the county that test local emergency response plans (these can be from daycares, hospital, to oil companies or businesses).
